Important Notice
We want to share an important update with you regarding the future of the International Yoga Teachers Association (NZ) (IYTA). After much consideration, and with a deep sense of reflection, the Association is in the process of winding up.

At the retrospective 2023-2024 AGM held on 22 March 2025, the following remit was presented and passed by 76% of voting members, with a quorum present:

-
'The International Yoga Teachers Association (NZ) Inc. is wound up
(according to Section 23 of the Rules (see Appendix 1)) as it is no
longer able to govern the charity's operations or carry out its work.'
The National Executive are currently working through the wind-up process as per Section 23 of the Rules, as listed below. There will be opportunities for members to express their views either via their Branch Representatives or at the AGM on the 30 August 2025, plus the possibility of other Special Meetings during the winding up process.

This decision was not made lightly, and we acknowledge the care and thought that members brought to this process. The National Executive is now carefully guiding the organisation through the formal wind-up, as outlined in our Rules.

We value the voices of our members and want to ensure you continue to feel heard and involved. There will be opportunities to share your thoughts through your Branch Representatives, at the upcoming AGM on 30 August 2025, and possibly during other Special Meetings held throughout the process.

As part of the wind-up, our Rules (Section 23) ensure that any remaining assets will be transferred to another New Zealand-based yoga organisation that shares our charitable purpose and values, so that the spirit of our work may continue in a new form.

With gratitude for your ongoing support and the shared journey we’ve had together in yoga,
The IYTA NZ National Executive

About Us
Kia ora and welcome to the International Yoga Teachers Association (IYTA) of New Zealand.

IYTA (NZ) is a non-profit Incorporated Society and Registered Charity that trains our teachers to a high standard of knowledge and understanding, and supports all yoga practitioners. It is for anyone interested in yoga.
IYTA (NZ) practises an holistic approach, seeking to bring balance to the body, mind and spirit, encouraging self-development and self-awareness. Classes include all aspects of yoga practice, and vary from teacher to teacher and according to the needs of a particular group.
IYTA (NZ) teachers are trained to integrate Patanjali’s eight-fold path of classical yoga into their classes. They bring balance and variety to each class, and modify the postures to suit the individual.
